Advertising design
Successful design for advertising involves a balance between creativity and hierarchy of information. While it is important to communicate the message of the advert, it's equally important to engage the viewer. Something that captivates the imagination is a powerful way to get your message across.
Case Study | Hep-C awareness campaign
Client: Munro & Forster PR
Mavo were commissioned to design a series of adverts (for poster and magazine print) to promote the release of a documentary aimed at promoting awareness of Hep-C (within prisons across the UK).
As the documentary was shot in a bleak and "hard-hitting" way, we designed several advert concepts that echoed the films use of black and white cinematography, using only stark contrasting colours to bring to life content or key information.
After designing several concepts using stylised typography alone, it was decided that the poster/s needed more character and humanity. We designed several more options that included central characters from the documentary, and close up shots were chosen to add a greater sense of character.
"It was decided the only way to increase awareness of such a serious subject matter, was to create images that were stark and in someways uncomfortable to look at... designs that would demand attention..."
